Specialty Tracks offered at our Hockey School

 At Steen Sports, every athlete begins the day with 90–120 minutes of advanced skating development to build a powerful foundation for the rest of the training. In the afternoons, players enter their chosen Specialty Track, training in small groups with expert coaches who focus on a specific area of development. These tracks allow athletes to dive deeper into their individual goals and receive tailored coaching that accelerates their growth.

Think the Game Like a High-Level Player.
This track gives athletes the tools to understand why plays happen — and how to stay one step ahead of opponents. Through situational drills, small-area concepts, and real-time decision training, players learn how to read pressure, support the puck, create space, and anticipate developing plays.

Families choose this track because it helps athletes make faster, smarter, and more confident decisions that immediately translate into better in-game performance. 

 Be the pace others can't handle.
This track is designed for players who want game-changing speed. Athletes train explosive acceleration, top-end speed, crossover power, edge efficiency, and speed with the puck, all built on biomechanics-based principles that actually increase a player’s force output.

Families choose the Speed Track when they want their athlete to create space from opponents, win races, and play with a burst that stands out at any level. 

Turn Opportunities Into Goals.
The Goal Scoring Track breaks down the mechanics and mindset of reliable finishers. Athletes improve shot power, accuracy, deception, and release speed while also learning how to attack soft ice, beat defenders, and finish under fatigue.

Players love this track because they leave with noticeable improvements in confidence, shooting ability, and offensive instinct — the tools that make a player stand out on any team. 

Build the Foundation of an Elite Defenseman.
Defense begins with skating, and this track teaches players how to control space, maintain tight gaps, angle attackers, and transition smoothly between defensive and offensive movement. Athletes learn efficient backward skating, escape options, intelligent footwork patterns, and situational principles used by elite defensemen.

Families choose this track because it strengthens the core habits that make a defenseman mobile, effective, and hard to play against. 

Modern, Technical, High-Repetition Goaltending.
This track mirrors the demands of today’s fast-moving game. Goalies train angle management, efficient crease movement, rebound control, post integration, and reading plays under pressure — all in a small-group environment built for focused improvement.

Players see the difference immediately: better control, better confidence, and a goalie who understands how to stay calm, composed, and technically sound in all situations. 

The 1% Advantage Track is built for our most driven athletes — the players pursuing AAA advancement, junior hockey opportunities, and a competitive edge that separates them from everyone else. Enrollment is invite-only, but select athletes may be accepted through an application-based review.

This track gives players access to two lead track coaches, a U16 AAA head coach and an active NAHL assistant coach, offering insight usually reserved for high-level prospects. Athletes learn elite habits away from the puck, how to command plays, how to stand out in NAHL/USHL tryouts, and how to present themselves as true prospects. They also receive guidance on how to communicate with coaches, market themselves effectively, navigate the junior hockey pathway, and earn additional film-review sessions with the coaches who run this track.
